Permissible Uses for IPC Media-Based Training, Printed Standards and other Technical Reference and Image Resources
Below are the permissible ways for corporate or in-house training facilitators* to use IPC media resources: video/DVD files, computer-based training programs, online video resources, video courses, graphic and photographic “clip-art” images, and printed reference materials (posters, training and reference guides, standards and specifications).
Video / DVD
IPC video/DVDs are licensed for unlimited use within one manufacturing site or educational facility only. DVDs may not be copied or digitally transmitted for use at additional company or educational sites. Contact the IPC Training Dept. for specific rates on multiple copies, or for global rights for worldwide access. (Also see “Online Video Training Resources” option below.)
IPC video/DVDs are not licensed for editing or incorporation into training products or programs intended for resale (for profit).
Users may make a back-up copy to protect against disc damage or loss. Or, return damaged DVDs to IPC for free replacement.
Online Video Training (OVT) Resources
IPC Online Video Training tools are available in either Site or Global Licenses. The terms and restrictions for these video training resources include any digital movie files, as well as all related training and testing materials (leader's guides, student workbooks, exams, certificates, online testing software, etc.) included with the program.
OVT Site License
Allows for unlimited, simultaneous usage on every computer throughout one company facility or contiguous location only. Also includes any and all distance workers affiliated with that location, but working remotely. Access of these files is not permitted by persons unaffiliated with licensed company location.
OVT Global License
Allows for unlimited simultaneous usage on every computer throughout all company facilities and locations worldwide. Access of these files not permitted for persons unaffiliated with licensed company.
Both Site and Global licenses assume that appropriate security measures and / or policies have been implemented in order to prevent access by anyone from outside the licensed group. All files may be transmitted / played or downloaded over local area networks, WANs, intranets, internet or web.
Nonprofit educational institutions are considered single sites. These educational institutions may use OVT files for their registered students only – within their own community – either in the classroom or from their home via the internet.

Online Video Training resources may not be edited or incorporated into training products or programs intended for resale (for-profit). OVT resources may not be incorporated into web-based / distance learning programs, such as online universities or other internet-centered enterprises.
Computer-Based Training on Interactive CD-ROM
Stand-Alone (single user) software licenses are designed for installation and unlimited use on one computer. You may install stand-alone software on different computers, as long as you run the program on only one computer at a time.
Site Licenses are designed for unlimited simultaneous use over a company local area network (LAN), within one manufacturing facility or site only. They are not licensed for use over a corporate intranet or wide area network (WAN) for multiple locations.
IPC computer-based training programs are not licensed for editing or incorporation into training products or programs intended for resale (for profit).

Photographic and Graphic Illustrations (Clip-Art Images)
Trainers may incorporate licensed IPC images and/or graphics into products intended for use within and throughout their own company at any location worldwide (Global License).
Users may recompress, translate formats, or otherwise electronically adapt or edit clip art (photographic & computer generated) images to suit their needs. Attribution (source credit) must be given to IPC within the document or multimedia program when referencing images.
IPC images may not be used by any other persons, companies or organizations other than the original company that purchased the assets. Images used in web-based training programs must be made secure within company intranets (firewall, password protected, etc.), and cannot be available to anyone outside the original purchasing company.
This license does not permit use of IPC photographic images and graphic resources for adaptation or incorporation into commercial (for-profit) training products or services.
Images within IPC Standards and Specifications
Purchase of any IPC printed document does not entitle user to photocopy, scan or digitally reproduce the images in any way. User must purchase from various, licensed clip art sets or buy the rights to individual images and use per the licensing info above.
Training and Reference Guides (DRMs) / Posters
Printed IPC Training and Reference Guides or Posters may not be photocopied, scanned or otherwise digitized for electronic reproduction.

Training & Reference Guides in PDF - Site License is for simultaneous usage on every computer throughout one company facility. Site License files may be opened, copied or downloaded onto individual computers, or over computer networks, intranets, etc.” at one contiguous company location. This digital file is not licensed for use at multiple company facilities or locations. Appropriate security measures and policies must be in place to prevent access to the PDF by anyone from outside the licensed facility.
Training & Reference Guides in PDF - Global License is for simultaneous usage on every computer throughout all company facilities and locations. Global License files may be opened, copied or downloaded onto individual computers, or over computer networks, intranets, internet or web. Appropriate security measures and policies must be in place to prevent access to the PDF by anyone from outside the licensed company.
EDU Courses
IPC Courses ("EDU" part #s) are licensed for usage by unlimited students at one manufacturing facility. Video/DVD and test files are not transferable to other facilities within the same company, and are not licensed for usage over the Internet. Global licensing is available if you wish to present this course at multiple facilities. Nonprofit educational institutions are considered as single sites.

*Independent Training Providers
Training providers working for themselves or other entities may purchase and use any of the IPC media products as listed above; to provide training services and programs between multiple customer facilities and locations. These providers must honor all other licensing restrictions, and must not leave behind or distribute free copies of any IPC media resource at any location. IPC media must be used in their entirety, and credit must be given IPC for all media used in the training programs.
Independent training providers using IPC media for programs at their own training facilities, must purchase the appropriate license permission for each of their corporate locations that use said media.
