Permissible Uses for IPC Media-Based Training, Technical Reference and Image Resources

Below are the permissible ways for corporate, educational or independent* training providers to use IPC media resources: video / DVD files, computer and web-based training and testing programs, online video resources, multi-video courses, graphic and photographic “clip-art” images, and printed reference materials (posters, training and reference guides).

Video / DVD / EDU

IPC Video / DVD programs and DVD sets, such as the “EDU” courses, are licensed for unlimited use within one physical location or site only.  DVDs may not be copied or digitally transmitted for use at additional locations.  Contact the IPC Training Dept. for specific rates on multiple copies, for multi-site or global access rights. (Also see “Online Video Training Resources” option below.)

IPC Video/DVDs are not licensed for editing or incorporation into training products or programs intended for resale (for profit).

Users may make a single disc copy for regular use, and save the original disc as a copy master to protect against damage or loss.  Or, return damaged DVDs to IPC for free replacement.

Online Video Training (OVT) Resources

IPC Online Video Training tools are available in either Site (single facility) or Global (multiple location) Licenses. The terms and restrictions for these video training resources include any digital movie files, as well as all related training and testing materials (leader's guides, student workbooks, exams, certificates, testing software, etc.) that come with the program.

Nonprofit educational institutions may use IPC OVT products to create their own online learning programs for their registered students only.  Registered students reside in geographical proximity to their school, and are taking IPC training programs online as part of that school’s curriculum.

OVT resources may not be incorporated into web-based / distance learning programs, such as online universities or other internet-centered (for-profit) enterprises.  Online Video Training resources may not be edited or incorporated into training products or programs intended for resale (for-profit).

Both Site and Global licenses assume that appropriate security measures and / or policies have been implemented in order to prevent access by anyone from outside the licensed group. All files may be transmitted / played or downloaded over local area networks, WANs, intranets, internet or web.

OVT Site License

Allows for unlimited copies, with simultaneous usage on every computer throughout one contiguous location only. Also includes all users affiliated with that location, but training remotely via networks or the internet. Access to these files is not permitted by persons unaffiliated with licensed location.

OVT Global License

Allows for unlimited copies, with simultaneous usage on every computer throughout all facilities and locations worldwide via networks or the internet.  Access to these files not permitted for persons unaffiliated with licensed organization.

Web-Based Training

IPC-sponsored web-based training programs are used according to the “Terms of Use” agreement the student must accept when registering for any web training course.

Computer-Based Training and Testing on Interactive CD-ROM

These computer-based programs will function on stand-alone PCs or over computer networks.  They will not function across the internet, and are considered Site Licenses.  Computer programs are designed for unlimited simultaneous use over a company local area network (LAN), within one physical location or site only. They are not licensed for use over a corporate intranet or wide area network (WAN) for multiple locations.

IPC computer-based training programs are not licensed for editing or incorporation into training products or programs intended for resale (for profit).

You can make a back-up copy of any computer-based program to protect against disc damage or loss. Or, return damaged discs to IPC for free replacement.

Photographic and Graphic Illustrations (Clip-Art Images)

Trainers may incorporate licensed IPC images and / or graphics into products intended for use within and throughout their own company at any location worldwide (Global License).

Users may recompress, translate formats, or otherwise electronically adapt or edit clip art (photographic & computer generated) images to suit their needs. Attribution (source credit) must be given to IPC within the document or multimedia program when referencing images.

IPC images may not be used by any other persons, companies or organizations other than the original organizations that purchased the assets. Images used in web-based training programs must be made secure within that organization’s servers, and cannot be available for copying to anyone outside the original purchasing organization.

This license does not permit use of IPC photographic images and graphic resources for adaptation or incorporation into commercial (for-profit) training products or services.

Training and Reference Guides (DRMs) / Posters

Printed IPC Training and Reference Guides or Posters may not be photocopied, scanned or otherwise digitized for electronic reproduction.

Training and Reference Guides in Adobe Acrobat PDF format come in two license types: Site and Global (see below), and are not licensed for printing or any type of hard copy reproduction.  Contents may not be extracted or incorporated into any other digital or printed presentation.

*Independent Training Providers

Training providers working for themselves or other training organizations may purchase and use any of the IPC media as listed above; to provide training services and programs between multiple customer facilities and locations. These providers must honor all other licensing restrictions, and must not leave behind or distribute free copies of any IPC training media resource at any location. IPC media must be used in their entirety, and credit must be given IPC for all media used in the training programs.
Independent training providers using IPC media for programs at their own training facilities must purchase the appropriate license permission for each of their corporate / educational locations that use IPC training media.
